On our product wiki at work, you can subscribe to the wiki via an RSS client
to get the latest updates. I use sharpreader. I can't seem to be able to
do that with the paris wiki. Maybe I'm just dumb. It's a great feature for
a frequently updated wiki.
ChuckLOL! That's great: "I'm gonna give you an Upright Bass lesson,
but I don't own one, so I'm gonna use this acoustic guitar...
next I'm gonna show you how to rebuild a carburetor, but I don't
have one of those either, so I'll use this microwave oven
instead".

So, sorry to all for being so petty in raking the guy over the
coals like that - his audio opinions notwithstanding.
NeilI went through that myself as I was watching this stuff. I felt bad but
then I thought about the people he's misleading and has taken money from and
found myself somewhat confused between humanity and truth... but still
feeling like it is a terrible disservice to the audio industry and I wonder

I wouldn't be a friend to anyone considering this 'service' if I didn't call

to do what he loves. He just needs to get more to the truth if he's gonna
charge people for it and call it professional.

> the Superbowl with 100,000 people and just project on a visible building
> for 30 seconds. WOWNope, it isn't that. I stick strictly to 44.100 on everything. That is the
first thing I changed when I installed Sonar... and everything is set to
44.100 in Paris. As I said, not a big deal on this file, but I hope I don't
run into this in future files. I make sure everything (setting and project)
is set to 44.100. I don't use 48k... although I noticed a difference in
file size, I could never really hear anything sonically different. That's
just my opinion, so I am sure others believe differently. Anyway, thanks
for all your help...
I will comment that I am having a real learning curve with Sonar 7.0. I
mean, there is nothing easy in this program. One of the things that interested
me in getting this was the built in drum program... Well, the help viseo
calls it one thing and the help files don't know what it is... and if you
scour the forums, they have different names... I was just trying to figure
out how to setup and simple drum beat for something. HA! Unlike their video
that makes it looks so easy, I have absolutely zero sound when I am placing
markers for the beats... but I have sound if I arm the midi track and hit
play. I am not even sure how to ask anyone to help me on that one... It
took me hours just figuring out how to track a simple acoustic... the record
button is almost greyed out and doesn't turn red until you hit it... how
stupid is that? It little things like that which is making me more frustrated.
It's almost like a music program written and designed by programmers, not
musicians or engineers... Well, I'll keep playing with it... I'll like to
find some basic 101 or 102 for using this thing... the forums are a bit
over my head... I don't do

Stick it on a bus and blend it up underneath an unprocessed Music Man bass -
feels like a steel ball wrapped in a thick layer of hard rubber bouncing off

- KerryMostly what Chris said, but a few caveats. I still think it's worth it to
go with a 'real' video card with its own memory. Shared memory isn't the
horrible penalty it once was but just anecdotally laptops with real video
memory seem both snappier with audio and more stable.
For the interface I'd go USB. I don't like the non-cardbus options (and you'll
likely be getting a non-cardbus laptop) and people seem to have the devil's
problems getting fw interface to work with laptops. I have a $300 M-Audio
USB interface and it works great. Ditto my fancy Native Instruments DJ interface.
You need to be more diligent with laptops on the backup and security front.
Your locked front door adds a level of security to your desktop that you
won't have with a portable. Be more careful about private data and think
about some amount of disk encryption and maybe password protected VMs for

Yeah right!, that is just a perfect description of one of my goals in life
-to achieve maximum benefit from "the bass tone." That is poetry man. Freakin'
poetry. Thank you. MRGlad you liked the simile; you'll like the next part even more - the Music
Man (not mine, btw) had the deadest strings I've ever heard on a bass
manufactured after the 1960s.And you know how much of an impediment dead
strings are to getting "there" (although they can certainly get you to other
cool places).
I actually asked Warren (engineer and owner of said bass) if he'd been
rubbing butter, or maybe fried chicken, on the strings for mojo. Didn't get
around to trying my own basses on it yet, that's when I suspect the
fireworks might start.
