THis is what I'd try:

1 If 98 drivers came with the DVD go into safe mode and install them

2 Reboot and see if your results are good. if not:

3 Backup you windows 98 directory and the system state to one of those
extra hard drives you have

4 Boot off the Win98 Cd and go throught the process of installing 98
over the top of itself. If a system file it "pooched" this will replac
