To test the Aardsync, use one of you 75 ohm cables and feed it to your
MEC. Set Paris to WC sync "after it has loaded a project". Press
play. If Paris plays fine, then the Sync box is working correctly.
If there is no sync, led's and meters will be going nuts.
Regarding your set-up.
You **MUST** use good quality **75 Ohm** BNC to BNC cables to make
this work. Home hifi video cables will not be reliable enough to use
for WC (not saying you were using them, just an example). As for Neils
comment to length, that isn't the problem, as I am using a mix of
cables here from 2' to 33' with no trouble. They ARE high quality
home made Canare cables with proper Canare crimp-on ends though, so I
know for sure I have good connections.
I am assuming that you are using adat I/O cards in this set-up, but
you didn't mention them. I would do this:
1) Re-connect all cabling using proper cables, one to each WC in from
the Sync box.
2) Apply a 75 Ohm BNC terminator to the WC out of the MEC.
2) Launch Paris normally and open a 44.1 project.
3) Once the project has loaded and will play, set Paris to External WC
Sync (if you are running XP it will take a minute for everything to
settle down).
4) Now turn on the outboard convertors.
Things should work fine at this point. Give it a try and let me know
how it works.

I primarily compose on guitar and I used to use a midi based proggie called
Jammer for rough compositions. and I have figured out a way to use this with
the sound engine of NI Bandstand using Midiox. Christmas before last I
bought myself one of those cool little Fretlight strat lookin things meaning
to start getting my chops up to speed and getting out of a few ruts I've
been floundering around in for years.
I have an RME Multiface sitting here that I could interface with a laptop
via PCMCIA. I would like to have a media centric" laptop with a goodly
amount of horsepower/RAM/fast HD, that will work well with an RME PCMCIA
card for the Multiface This will need to be a windows machine since my apps
don't play with Macs..and of course, I want a good deal, whatever that is).
I have a Dell Latitude docking station here with an 18g SCSI cheetah that
works well with an older Latitude machine (a P2-400mHZ laptop). I'm
wondering if another Latitude might be the ticket. Not
imperative......................but any experience with these would be of
particular interest.
