name calling you're way more likely to be convincing, FWIW.
Calling names in response to someone noticing the "do what I say not
what I do" thing, or pretending it didn't happen or no one noticed, are
not your most convincing arguments for correctness of position.
In any case, criticism of the people in charge when problems come up is
expected and appropriate in a democracy. And even a day's difference (if
we assume you're right) could be life or death for real people in the
situation we're discussing.
With Katrina criticism is coming from left, right, up, down and sideways
because

Things are getting a little too heated and most of the current threads of
discussion are currently a long way from anything I'd call "intelligent and
fruitfull". Not that nothing positive has been said, but generally there's
not much understanding happenning.
We're all a little tense over this New Orleans thing. Everyone who wants

It needs to be reasonably rugged, but not stupidly. Pretty much I'm always
packing the gear in my own car so I can take care of it to a degree, but
I don't want a case I'll need to replace in 5 years.

reminded of that thought.
the thought is this.....
have debate shows on TV influenced the way ordinary people like us talk
about our views on things? on those shows you get like 4 minutes total for
all sides to voice their opinion. when the issues are big and important you
often get very opinionated people who are practically yelling at each other
and not being very personable. let's face it.... if somebody makes some
outlandish comment or calls somebody a name, its good for ratings and make
more "news".
where are we gonna be in 20 years if we can't talk about government without
hating each other and cussing people out?

showes up here lately. No one can help what has happened and is happening in
New Orleans right now. The only thing is to hope that the people of America
and the American Gouvernment now have learned something for the future,
that the infrastructure and weather in a country have more importance than
all wars for riches and oil, just to take care of the ultra high standards
of living in some places in the world like America and have will to do
something with it.
I saw a documentation program yesterday in Norwegian TV that showed up how
USA now are trying to take control over the oil from WestAfrica, just to see
that China are trying the same thing. China needs the oil to start up all
their big "wheels" and USA needs the oil to get their "old wheels" spin some
rounds more. It was not good to see for the Kyoto deal and for the future of
the earth at all.
