--I'm not 100 % sure Steve, but I believe version 10 and 2003 are the same. I
have version 2003 and have used it since 2003 without problems to make
backups of Win98/ME/XP on CD/DVD. But I'm using it only in Dos mode, not
Windows at all. I don't think these "old" versions will work inside
Vista(there's a new version for that, called Ghost Solution Suite), but if
you make a Dos Ghost floppydiskette from an installed Windows 98/ME/XP
version, I believe you can use it to make backups of Vista too(if there is a
floppy disk station in the laptop). But allways remember to check if the
burning is OK. There is a menu for that too in Dos mode.
Say hello to Bonnie:-)

Let me know if you give it a whirl though - I could use a PCIe to PCI

I don't think it's FW, the Pro Fire Light bridge will do 34x36. http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/ProFireLightbridge-mai n.html

Hi James - Any experiences with this unit to report (drivers, latency,
integration with PCI audio cards)? M-Audio never had a great rep for
drivers and quality, but I know Lamont gave it a thumbs up, so it seems
worth considering. I could use an extra 4 lightpipe ports. I've been
reluctant to put

bula3, and although I could route to
it using a complex ADAT maze, I want to at least consider a PC – centric
mix setup.
If I use my MOTU PCI setup for my primary I/O, I probably can’t also integrate
the TC box for I/O to my 6000 and a few other tricks I would like it to do,
right?

I guess this is not the right place to ask if Cubase is the right choice
for a mix engine. I’m also looking at Reaper (and Nuendo naturally). I have
used Nuendo for several mixes and it always gave good, if not great results.

>Hey Dedric, I have no experience with the Pro Fire Lightbridge. I was following
the user reports on gear slutz awhile back. Most reports were good, but
someone didn't like something about the way the monitoring is set up, or
some thing. You might want to read up on those threads. Also, early on,
some didn't like that there are only 18 I/O available in PT. They may have
changed this by now. All other software can utilize all of the I/Os, such

>As I suspected, if you create your external FX devices with the I/O relative
to the same order it shows up in in the respective I/O bussing windows, then
as you disable these inputs and outputs after using them for tracking they
will become available by default in the proper order in the FX routing
window and will "recall" in the proper order......at least so far. It really
makes sense.......sorta', kinda'.....in a half assed sloppythinking kinda'
way. No wonder I was able to figure it out.

This *feature* reminds me of the little icon in the VST instruments applet
to the right of the name of the VST instrument that will allow you to show
one or more channels of a multitimbral instrument in the mixer
window....which isn't mentioned anywhere in the manual. I found reference to
it in an article in SOS.

It's like a perverse sort of treasure hunt.

Neil's suggestion to do a hardware "reset" did fix the issue I was having
with levels not recalling upon opening a project. How ****'in wierd is that?

;oPI'm starting to get my head around the wierd bugs in Cubase 4 now. Not that
I would recommend it for a professional mix platform right now, but it does
have some cool features. When I talked to Steinberg tech support last week,
they were making "60 days till the big update to Cubase 4.1" noises, but I
wouldn't put my eggs in that basket just now. I'm going to give Nuendo 3 a
try soon.

One main reason I'm stiking with Steinberg instead of moving to Reaper is
because I've got Systemlink pretty well integrated into my situation and I'm
liking it.........plus..I'm just sorta' comfortably miserable with C4 right
now. It's sorta' like Paris....you never know WTF is gonna' happen next.

;o)

something else to add...............I think...........and this is wierd, but
the system is seeming to be a bit more zippy and responsive. It's one of
those things you notice when you haven't noticed that there is a problem and
then it gets solved and the system behaves differently. The first indicator
was that the project opened faster after I had removed all of the old I/'O
settings and instantiated the new ones, then relaunched the project. I
checked the VST meter and it looks to be ( maybe 5 - 10%) lower on resource
usage than it was before. Maybe this is just my imagination, but the system
seems happier when the I/O is utilized in it's "natural" order, they way the
drivers order the hardware I/O. I know, I know....... this is really too
strange to believe.

At least half the times no C-16 was attached.
Do you think that a bad C-16 cable could cause these issues?
I'll remove them from the setup until all is well.
I know at least a few times it worked that the C-16 did also.

Tom,

Stupid question, but did you ever start up without any c16's? If so =
did=20
you see the same issue?
