her advantages of using a Firewire interface:

-Frees up PCI slots for other uses.

-Less likely to be made obsolete between computer generations (PCI
keeps changing).

-Can easily move the Firewire interface to another computer as needed.

-Easy to take along on location recordings with a laptop.
