Thanks Aaron. I'm moving the small stuff up to an open area with =
another comp right now.
I'll begin my madness shortly. I don't have Excel but I am wicked good =
with chisel and stone.
I'll post when something turns up to get your opinion(s).

Tom, you may find it useful to print out an excel trouble shooting =
chart and check off the items as you tag them good/bad. I find that =
keeping up with 'everything' on a deal like this (IE, never enough time =
to just do it all in one sitting) is just about impossible. Label each =
'part', give it a proper set of troubleshooting criteria (like say, SCSI =
cable 1, 2, 3, 4 or EDS 1,2,3,4 and label each part with gaff tape). If =
you come up on a bad MEC, pull all expansion cards and make sure that's =
not biting you. Don't forget to mark what expansion came from what slot =
in what MEC.=20

Just be methodical man, I know you'll find it.=20

Aaron,

I'm on it.

Yup. Strip it ALL down to a PC only with video card, one EDS and =
one MEC. Get that flying, add a second EDS.. pull the 2nd EDS, try =
another, etc... do the same with MEC's and cables.=20

Intermitant success is the best I've got right now.

I plan to install Paris on another comp, try each EDS
individually and each SCSI cable individually with the 442. If
all goes well or not I will have an answer. Next, try the same =
in=20
the actual Paris rig without the Magma. If I can get regular
Paris boots there then it's the Magma power supply
or Magma cable. I'm thinking power supply. I always
had all 5 EDS cards showing even when the hardware
attached to them wasn't.

Does this sound like a logical approach to you?
I'm sick of chasing my tail.

I don't s'pose it could hurt if they're tarnished. My =
experiences though with the issue your seeing have been bad SCSI cables. =

Start small, test every little component, unless you've got a =
bent up input pin somewhere (and I'd light them well and magnifying =
lense them all) I'm having a hard time buying that you have 4 dead =
cables out of the blue though, something caused that if it's the case.=20

Aaron,
Hyperthreading is off. I'll double check though. I'd love =
to save the money
on those scsi cables.

What do you think about Deoxit in the female scsi jacks?

Ya Jeff,
At least half the times no C-16 was attached.
Do you think that a bad C-16 cable could cause these =
issues?
I'll remove them from the setup until all is well.
I know at least a few times it worked that the C-16 did =
also.

Tom,

Stupid question, but did you ever start up without any =

you see the same issue?

Well I wish I had better news. =20

The comp that was ready for action with this test has a small case so no =
go.=20
What was I thinkin? Paris cards won't fit.=20

I have a couple more to try that are large enough. One is the internet =
comp=20
that was my old Paris comp in 1999 or an AMD 3000 that has no OS at the =
moment .

It's always sumpthin.

Oh well,
Goofy Tom

Thanks Aaron. I'm moving the small stuff up to an open area with =
another comp right now.
I'll begin my madness shortly. I don't have Excel but I am wicked =
good with chisel and stone.

Aaron,

If
all goes well or not I will have an answer. Next, try the =
same in=20
the actual Paris rig without the Magma.

Start small, test every little component, unless you've got =
a bent up input pin somewhere (and I'd light them well and magnifying =

Aaron,
Hyperthreading is off. I'll double check though. I'd =

What do you think about Deoxit in the female scsi jacks?

Ya Jeff,
At least half the times no C-16 was attached.
Do you think that a bad C-16 cable could cause these =

I'll remove them from the setup until all is well.
I know at least a few times it worked that the C-16 =
did also.

Didn't Mackie always use "made in USA" as one of their selling points?

There seems to be a new distributor for the states.
At the moment I'm checking the S6, S7 and S8 models. They sound great and
very balanced and produce a very nice and tight bottom end, the three of
them, and I'm having a hard time to choose, depending on room size and wether
they are used with or without the SB10 (sub woofer).
For the moment I'm leaning towards the S7, great on their own and even better
with the SB10.

All the best with your choice.

(859) 635-5762The quality of the workmanship is actually not that bad...
they have come a long way in the last 10 years. The issue
is with the parts. They use lower quality metals (pot metal
instead of billet etc) wider tolerance parts, crappy woods,
etc. Some companies like QSC have built factories there but
still use good parts, and QC the stuff in the States before
it gets packed. The RMX series of amps for instance are made
in China but still come up to QSC spec. If Behringer had
not come into the market place, many pro audio products
would probably still be made in the US, but then again...

$$$$ wins out...
