Any criticisms you have about OS9 and before I probably agree with.
Some of them also apply to MSWindows versions over the years. For
example, reinstalling to fix a problem was pretty common with Wi95,
that's what Gateway tech support told me to do, for example.
Back to Apple: Apple HAS made a lot of missteps along the way, and a
fair number of advancements. But Apple didn't really start to impress me
until OSX.
My first Mac (other than an emulator running on an Amiga) was a dual
1GHZ G4 PowerMac, dual booting in OS9 and OSX. And it ran PARIS _MUCH_
better than my Intel box of the time. Plus it allowed me to transition
to Logic and soft synths. Awesome!
Then the dual G5 came out, which is like having 4 G4 computers in one
box. It's been great. I can now comfortably wait to upgrade again until
something else knocks my socks off, like maybe an 8 core box.
Unfortunately, it looks like you yourself "drank the koolaid" with Apple
very early on, long before OSX, until you had your epiphany, still
before OSX. And so you have a pretty bi
