I wouldn't want Gates taking over my company. There's a great Simpsons
scene where Microsoft "buys out" Homer's company. Classic.
Not sure I'd want to be bought out by Apple, either. I know a guy who
did that. Mixed feelings.

I had a complete computer meltdown and am in the process of reconfigurating
my new system. I have everthing I need for running Paris 3.0 on XP, except
I can't find my Paris 3.0 (I had it backedup on my second harddrive, which
I lost along with my system drive when my computer melted down). I can't

my native DAW from the ADAT sync ports of my Paris rig. It's redundant and
sorta silly to be using WC and ADAT sync to clock the same device (not to

go to higher sample rates, it's fairly simple to just daisy chain the RME
cards and use the RME internal clock. The CLKx6 is just gathering dust right
now. It's a cool distro amp if you need one. Street on these is around
$400.00 I think. My buy It Now is $325.00. It's in "like new" condition.

I'm in Paris and can't seem to squish enough. Every compressor I try (waves
C4,C1, RenComp, sonalksis, timeworks, Ultrafunk, blockfish, etc...) don't
seem to narrow the dynamic range much at all. They seem to drop the volume
as they narrow but with make up gain they sound very mildly compressed and
not all that impressive. I definitely understand compressors but anything
more than 3:1 seem to have artifacts.
Any serious squishing results in the kick distorting too. Here is a drum
track. Can anyone give me some tips please on getting the drumsound below?

Disk I/O should usually be higher rather than lower. Try 128 as a start point.
Personally I have:
Disk I/O =128
Disk Cache = 30 Meg
Overview Cache = 4096
It all depends on your system, how big it is (bigger needs higher numbers).
I have a two card system and those settings work fine for me. Don't remember
the last disk error I had. Maybe none on this system. It's been said that
your disk cache should allow for double the number of tracks that you're
really using.
If you're on a single card system the setting may be ok, maybe... except
I'd up the Disk I/O first to 128.
What is your system? How many cards?

my system is antiquated-- about eight years old
with one card in a G3. i had similar issues when i
first began working with paris and the default configuration
and someone on this newsgroup, i think chuck duffy, gave me some
suggestions that ultimately cleared up the problem. at this point i'm
very nearly at the end of a lengthy project, ten songs with an average of
12 trks and a whole lot of submixes all of which
need final mixes, and suddenly my computer does not want to comply... a little
scary... the cursor stops midway through the tracks, the music continues
to play, and the only way to stop it is to force quit the program, and then
force the mac to restart.
i'll try your suggestions.

all the choirs of heaven suck compared to the glorious rogue sound. i
played musicmens and fenderses before i the day i laid eyes on my
rogue a day that my life would be changed forever a day like any
other day but a day that would mark me in a profound way and
transform my base sound into the sound of gods. i just had to try it,
it was brown, and it was red, and i had to have it, seeing that it
was under 100$ made me crap my pants in disbelief, after changing my
pants i ordered it and upon arrival bore witness to a sound that no
mortal man except those with 100$ can bear witness to, the sound of a
rogue, a sound that since my initial purchase will rock generations
upon generations. of course when my band gets signed, were called
"SERADED" and we are influenced by korn, limp bizkit, creed, kid
rock, and sliiiiiiiiiiipknot!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the sound is so good that
my girlfriend RIP killed herself in order to never hear inferior base
playing. that was a little extreme of her, most people cut off their
ears to never hear an inferior bass again. others simply wait their
whole lives to hear such glory again

listen as hard it was to believe it was made in a factory not by
jesus or the holy angels of heaven, it was made by rogue. whom i
believe to be a magical gnome with a fortress factory in korea, all
that dare enter it shall die. it had no flaws, this is the perfect
vessel for the base claff. the body was made of red and the neck,
brown. nothing can beat such power. my hands moved so fast that they
appeared to be in one location like lightspeed. everytime i play i
yell lightspeed and everyones like "KILLER MAN!!!!!!!!!" and i play
something so fast that they blink and cant see it happen. they
however crap their pants due to the sound of the purest and greatest
base ever. this base is flawless

i pulled out my 44 magnum and shot this bad boy, the bullet
ricocheted off of it and left no mark, however the bullet killed
every inferior musicman and fender in the area. if i touched another
base i would kill myself for betraying the rogue, im serious here
people this thing is solid, ive heard of people eating them and
digesting them without leaving a scratch, i took the polar plunge
last winter while rocking out with it and the thing plays like butter
still. the strap buttons are solid, who the hell makes liquid strap
buttons. ive played this for the last 85 days, not taking any breaks,
ive played it while eating and on the john, seriously i am playing it
while typing this, that is how good it is, it hasnt worn out and ive
been playing this bad boy for 2,040 hours straight and i play DEATH
METAL LIKE KORN!!!!!!!!!!!

This base is the best ever, im suprised musicman and fender haven't
sent out a press release saying "we make crap" or been investigated
by the better business buereu for making crappy products. there is no
comparison to this, the reason it is priced so low is because it was
made by people who work for the love of it, people like rogue the
magical tree elf of the woods. i keep mine in a steel case in a room,
the room is located where i am now, there are thousands of landmines
outside to protect it from theives, there is no chance of this being
stolen or even touched by someone who is not me. i had 23 voodoo
priests put curses on it against the theives. i carry a sword and 5
guns to ward off theives 5 men have been wounded by me for even
looking at it funny. i love everything about it, it is bettter than a
musicman stinggay and a fender pee pee bass or a fender azz bass or a
rickensucker or a gibson thunderturd, this is a rogue and nothing
will stop it when it plays not even god

Yeah,
Pennsylvania was a pretty long stretch.........but at least there is =
some variety to the terrain. what I found annoying about Pennsylavnia =
was that apparently the highway department there assumes that everyone =
who is driving on the highways is familir with Pennsylvania. The =
interstate highway names change without any signs at these changes which =
tell you where the *new* highway goes. If you are driving on Interstate =
84W coming out of NY state, it just ends at Interstate 81 North or =
South. You have to know that interstate 81 N actually goes west and =
intersects Interstate 80 west or that interstate 81 south connects to =
Interstate 76 W, but if you're actually trying to find I70 West, there =
is no sign that says "Pittsburg........this way" so that you know that =
this will happen. It's pretty easy to end up taking an unexpected detour =
through the Poconos (which ain't bad, but can be annoying if you aren't =
really wanting to do this. Also, the Interstates in Pennsylvania, NY and =
Ohio are under construction for long stretches. I was driving through =
Pennsylvania and NY on Friday and the construction delays really sucked. =
There were lost of commuters around Pittsburgh on Friday afternoon who =
were going postal. At one point, I sat stock still on I 76 for over an =
hour. The line of cars in front of me was so long that by the time =
traffic started moving again, what ever had been delaying things had =
totally disappeared without a trace. No way to know if it was a wreck of =
what.

We are similar in that way, he and I, ironically. I've moved ahead though
into speed licks and blaze techniques in some ways, however being completely
self taught my methods are not normal, therefore I do things other 'learned'
players wouldn't, and vice versa. Added to that I'm a drummer, and think in
those terms of poly rhythmic and tonal techiniques makes me an off the
normal path player.

service to filter ahead for you. sign up for a hotmail account, and send =
any 'unknown' sign ups, internet stuff and otherwise guilty until proven =
innocent sources to that email address.=20
Never used Bit Defender, no opinions on it. Ditto on NOD32/ESET. =

but I can't hear squat.
I can create a new project and import an audio file and everything is fine.
I can hear it thru my card.
But I open one of the saved project files and I can see the individual channel
meters LEDs moving, but nothing on the stereo out meters. I have tried configuring
the VST Connections
and they look identical to the newly created project, but no go.
These were created on someone elses computer so I am thinking it is a config
issue, but I cant figure it out. All the tracks and plugs loaded up nicely,
but no SOUND thru the stereo outs.
ANY IDEAS?

If so, the setup info that is transferred to your computer will not match
yours.

I selected the EMU ASIO driver in the Device Setup/VST Multitrack.
EMU is my new EMU0404 sound card.
In the VST Connections / outputs tab......it only gives
me two options for output. ASIO 1 OUT & ASIO 2 OUT.
In the Input tab it lets me select all 8 of the inputs if I want.(that are
associated with this card).

Each individual channel was not assigned a bus!!!!!!!!
Everything that was assigned to a sub bus like an fx bus was set, but the
fx busses were not assigned an output bus and anything that was sent directly
from the channel to the stereo out was not assigned an output.
