bought out by Digi. My understanding is that Ableton is back to
distributing themselves in the US and that their relationship with Digi is
of mutual consent. I.e. if Digi wants M-Audio to do X they do it, while if
Digi wants Ableton to do X they can ask and cajole but it's still Ableton's
to take or leave.
As an aside, one of the things European software companies complain about
most bitterly is the was US distribution is done. There are a lot of reason
why they complain but in pretty much every case they think they get screwed.
I think a lot of them would like to go to download only if they could, but
the size of the downloads are just too much still.
