>submixes, the=20
> other though
=3D
>!
> =3D3D
> =20Okay I will print and gather my thoughts around this in order to make it easy
to understand.
We will need One eds card for main card (A) that will be used as a total
mix recorder where you will be able to record up to 8 different mixes of
the same song.
This card A will have a mec which onlt the spdif will be needed basically
on my scenario.
Also you will be needing another eds card lets name it (F) this is why my
scenario will have a total of 6 eds cards which can come down 4 cards to
get any real benefit, for 4 cards just eliminate cards C and D.
Now card F will have a mec too which will have an input card (option A)
OR an ADAT card (option B)
Card B will have a mec too with an analog output card (option A) as so for
the cards C,D and E.
NOW
L & R submix B gets connected to outs 1&2 of its analog out card
L & R submix C .......................1&2 of its analog out card
..............D........................1&2.............. .........
..............E........................1&2.............. .........
NOW
All outs ,we have four sets of analog outs 1&2 will get connected to MEC
F (card F) analog input from 1 to 8.
What have we done so far ?
We have routed all 4 indivindual submixes of cards B,C,D and E to submix
F on audiotracks 1,2 3,4 5,6 7,8.
ALL audio tracks are alligned !! because we have the same latency foe all
submixes so nothing to nudge here !
You begin to see the benefits so far.
card F serves as a stereo submixer where you can insert on stereo submixes
B,C,D and E any DX/VST or eds effect !
Now you need to be careful with latency.
Need faderworks ??
:)
NOW in continuing...
What are you monitoring ?
You are monitoring submix F analog outs or digital outs !!
You are not monitoring card A !!
How do we record the submix F (which has all audiotracks) ?
We patch the digital out of mec F to digital in of mec A .
Put record enable on tracks 1 and 2 on mec A and record !
To hear what you have recorded just monitor now from Mec 1.
WHY all the above ?
because many of you wanted to use inserts on every submix !
NOW option B
You will need an spdif to adat summing device like AI4 from Alesis.
Well it is AES to adat so you convert your spdif to AES either with a simple
resistor on a XLR or buy some canare AES/SPDIF transformers.
You will connect all spdif outs oof MEC B,C,D and E to AI4 and the adat out
of this to Mec F adat card.
This way you are sending DIGITALLY your submixes to card F and don't loose
much if anything...
I would like your thoughts and maybe suggestions to better this !

Ok a friend of mine is telling me he tried Mac for the first time since =
the 80's.
He tried a 2gig 512mb G5 powerbook and it was totally solid.
He says it was so incredibly solid that they had tons of media playing
and internet running etc.. and not one glitch. No lag nothing.
What is the consensus on Macs for audio apps now?
Would Cubase run lightspeed under Mac opposed to PC?

------=_NextPart_000_0027_01C78CA5.5924E0B0--There's no G5 powerbook. I don't think any of the current Macbook Pros
come with less than 1GB RAM.
The current Intel core 2 duo Macbook Pros are very fast and work great
for audio.
The next version may come out this month with the new support chipset
which should allow access to more than 3GB RAM.
The Macbook (non "pro") is about as fast in everything but graphics. A
little less screen space and no expansion slot, but it should also be
very good for audio.
Can't answer the cubase question, I use Logic Pro.

Very "Running on Empty"-ish.

------=_NextPart_000_0052_01C78CAA.D04BDC70--I can do lunch both days since the places are nearby.
Thursday I have an afternoon commitment so I'd have to split at about
1PM. I also have an evening show (playing music with a comedy group at a
public show in a downtown Denver theater).
Friday is open and I'm flexible for studio tours.
Saturday is swamped but if anyone's still around feel free to come out
to my rock gig that night at the pub in Lakewood, they serve food so we
could do a dinner thing before the show.
Cheers,

If it is a Mac Book pro then it will run Cubase about the same as a
equivalent PC. You would not be using 512 megs of ram on any computer
using Xp or OSX. 1gig is the normal for any laptop now. If the guy is
really talking about a g4 laptop then no it will not anything faster
than a current PC or Mac Book pro laptop.

connected harware. installed new drivers. installed new pace drivers.
installed paris software. installed effects subsytem. in that order.
XP finds 3 ENSONIQ Scherzo devices under System Devices.
paris.exe is in Program Files\E-MU\Paris Pro.
that's where the subsystem went.
any ideas?

>Hey John, it sounds like Deej won't be here in time for lunch tomorrow.
I could meet you and Aaron around noon but I'd have to split at about
1pm. Maybe that Mexican place?
I'm going to have to miss out on Swallow Hill tomorrow evening. I'm
playing a comedy show downtown.
Friday is more free for me, plus Deej will be here (and maybe Dedric),
so how about if we do lunch at US Thai, tour your studios and whatever
else anyone wants to do on Friday afternoon?
Cheers,
-Jamie
