ite a bit of third
party development. The iPhone looks pretty slick out of the gate. Only
time will tell if the iPhone will be a success. I have to say for the average
guy the price is steep IMO, but not for someone with all the needs. Again,
it should be noted, the iPhone is PC compatible.

Well I'm not sure what you mean about the Plays for sure thing being better
than iTunes, but if your in to MS DRM, cool!

One thing I'll point out about Windows Media Player, is that they have copied
the itunes interface, Aqua theme/look, even the Itunes logo with the aqua
musical note and the CD. It's all hard to not notice MS's blatant rip off
of Apple design and innovation, just look at Vista. They been at it for
years.

Sounds like more hype, just from a source you like. And it's fine if you
like them.

"Technology" seems an exaggerated term in this case. Copying mp3s files
to a player is not a big deal.

Is that how WMP is wayyy better? :^)

I could copy mp3s to any player from a Mac. It's not locked into iTunes
playlists.

All of these companies are trying to create an ecosystem to pull you in.
Apple has been the most successful at it by making iTunes seamless with
their iPods, but that doesn't mean the others aren't trying. More power
to everybody, the more competition the better. Maybe someday someone
will make a portable player that is compelling enough for me to get one...

Cheers,
-Jamie

not pushing my views on anyone else, except over beers at the local pub with
friends who are ready, willing and able. (As an aside, they are 1. Always
vehemont, and 2. Without any actual real world experience on one of the
platforms in question).

I have to say that I am amazed by the venom that spews whenever someone
points to something Mac. It seems irrational to me. As if Steve Jobs personally
injured some on this group. Why do we worry so much about things we have
no
control over? If someone points out a new plug, or a new amp, or instrument,
things usually don't get personal. The recent donnybrook over Politics, Religion
and
War is regrettable but not surprising. But somebody pointing to a new product
from a computer co and getting sarcasm, disgust, resentment and
mockery just makes no sense.

FUD showed up with an unrelated article linking Jobs to stock manipulation.

I have a close engineer friend at RIM who's been there for 15 years (at least).
RIM's office is an hour West of me. I know that there is much disappointment
that
the cooperative plans for an "AppleBerry" did not materialize.

Hey simmo,
Thanks for that input. It turns out that the cards were not hooked up in
the proper sequence, but my sequence does not match your configuration. My
machine is the AGP graphics G4 500 mhz and my sequence runs (from the AGP
video card) 1=card A, 2=card C and 3=card B - different from yours which
you said was (3,1,2) mine runs (1,3,2). don't quite get why they make em
different but at least I,ve now got it working thanks to all of your help!!
This NG does rock!
At any rate, I just wanted to configure this 3 card system on my G4-500 and
get it all working together before I move Paris to a newer Mac I just purchased.
I got a 1.25 GHZ MDD G4 single processor because that is the last & fastest
machine they made that boots 9.2, and not needing the dual processors for
Paris it made sense to get the single processor machine as it runs quiter
also (which was again some very helpful advice from this NG)
So thanks again all!

Al

The OEM version just comes in a plain brown wrapper with no docs. I
bought my copy of XP Pro at a Mac reseller for $150...

------=_NextPart_000_00FF_01C735DD.A55341D0--You say that I said Macs crash..well.they do...and it happened today.
We were setting up a tech run for a new 10 week series I'm starting to
shoot, (record location audio), and set up a new Macbook loaded with Pro
Tools V7.0, (OSX 10.4), I think.
Every time we went to open PT, it crashed requiring a reboot...who knows
why...probably version conflicts...dunno.
I use Macs on a fairly regular basis, and if you could see my PC desktop,
you would see Rocket Dock displayed prominently at the bottom ala
Mac....(btw, I do own a Mac, just don't use it very often.)

>Hi again Al,
Great to hear that you've got the 3 EDS cards running on your G4. I've heard
that there's quite a bit of variation in various
G4 Mac models, and so some trial and error stuff is necessary.
Mine's an 833Mhz, but I've just bought a single-processor
mirror door 1.25Mhz and I hope to install PARIS soon; hopefully it will run
even better.
I would love to hear your install notes if you are doing this sometime soon.
Cheers, simmo.

I would love
