2772d4--Hello everyone ... I've been a PARIS user for 5 years, even though this
problem is not PARIS related. Anyway... what would cause my SP C1 condenser
to suddenly just cut out? I'm not sure if it's the mic, cable, or somewhere
else in the front end, but all i have to do to fix it is unplug the cord
from the mic & plug it back in, and the signal just "pops" back on. It's
not constant, but maybe once a day. Incidentally, I had the same problem
with a previous condenser/preamp combo, which makes me wonder if it's the
mic at all. The signal goes ... mic/pre/limiter/paris. Any ideas?I've seen bad phantom power supplies do that. Could be a shorted XLR cable
(jamming the phantom power to ground/low voltage) causing it to drop out as
well, different problem/same effect. As well, I had a CAD condensor that
does that when you hit it hard with sound, probably lousy design on that
one... not likely on a C1, but worth mentioning.
Trouble shoot it down to the last variable using known good replacement
equipment, and you'll find your culprit I bet.
