That only works when the capsules are dirty and only for a little while.

suggest it, why not any of us who are promoting something post our
websites to the group, so we can all raise our rankings and increase

every one who adds your site to theirs makes yours and secondarily those
you link a little bigger in reach.
Here are mine: http://www.billlorentzen.com http://www.kaleidoscope.ws

many others. At least it was not the big wow factor for me. Maybe
because I came to Paris from a pretty hip analog system. I do think it
was ahead of its time in affordable digital sound quality and power of
features. And has the best news group around by far.
I use SX4 and Sam now.

was show up at an unplugged gig and plug in guitar DI to a PA that someone
else had set up. I would look at the rack of gear and the mass of cabling
and think "man, I'm glad I don't have to deal with that crap". I would turn
on a computer and not **** with it. If it was acting wierd , I would send it
to Dell or Apple.
Well.....last night, my 220v GC-8, which is a proprietary remote control for
at 220v Roland R-880, died. Well, I hooked up another one that I had bought
on EBay for just such an occasion and it and I don't even want to go into
the insanity that happened next, but I ended up stiing down with the 2"
thick manual and reprogramming a buch of stuff on the damn thing and now it
works. I know, I know..that's what 2" thick manuals are for...right? It's
just so out of character for me. I used to be soooo right brained. My head
didn't even explode when I sat down and did this, though I did spend a few
anxious moments when I resigned myself to the RTFM last night and sat up
until about 3:00 AM getting my head around military Rolandspeak.
Jeeezzzz.......after dealing with the cryptic reduncdancy of this manual, I
could probaly get a job as an artilleryman in the Royal Marines. In a former
life, I would have jumped up and down on it until it was in pieces and then
thrown it out the window and gone for a jog or something..........(sigh)
I mean, this is only a brief example of the stuff I find myself doing on a
regular basis nowadays. I no longer bear any resemblance at all to my former
self or just about any "normal" person I know.
OK...rant off......Thad,
I liked your post. From here on out if ever forced at gunpoint to share
my views on the music of the band known as 'Boston', I will use your description.

I have a little edirol/roland controller. As far as I can tell roland products
are designed and produced by robots, with the target consumer being a computer.
I have burned in my brain a sequence that goes something like this:
1-1/2-1/3-1/4-1/2-9
That roughly describes the button sequence required to reload the factory
defaults.
Working with these things is like directly writing machine code without the
benefit of an assembler. For those of you with human brains, think of any
typical task and how roland would approach it. If you need to sweep the
kitchen, first gather the raw materials and tools required to construct the
sweeping device, then melt the polymer resin, pour it into a mold, let it
cool and retrieve the newly formed dustpan.

allowed speed changes without pitch changes (or pitch without speed), and

I would love to have one but repairs are non-existent. Many of its effects

maybe Cakewalk Sonar.Hi Gantt,
None of them are simple!! :)
If he a PC guy then I would recommend Reaper if his main needs are audio
recording.
It's really cheap and really powerful if he decides to get under the
hood of the program.
They have a very helpful forum and a good manual.
It will work fine with the Tone port.

chrisl@adkproaudio.comI use a blue and white G3, but it is limited to 2 cards.
Here's why:
The boot drive in those is pretty primitive and there are no
drives that will drop in to replace it because of the issue with
transfer speed in that computer. Basically, the computer has
a max transfer speed from the drive (ATA 66 I think) and if you
put a modern drive in there, the computer sets the drive to
"max output speed" on boot and then the computer cannot
address the drive any more. grrrrr...
A Sonnet host card solve the problem
http://www.sonnettech.com/
but takes up a card slot. So you are limited to 2 EDS cards.
Even the G4's (and some will boot OS9 and some will not)
run a lot better with a host card and and a modern drive.
Can you live with 2 cards?
I have not tried a Magma with a G3 but that could be another
solution.
best

a modern drive or two for boot and backup in the G3.
They may have an SATA host card for G3s over at Sonnet.
Also, blue and white G3's are cheap. I got one for my kid on ebay for 230.00
