s to hardware outputs - for example you're trying to show PARIS which software output (say MIxer A out L/R) you want to map to which hardware output (say the MEC's master outputs). Confused the heck out of me for the longest time, trying to think of it like a conventional patchbay.Yep....stock PARIS converters with the Big Ben. WinkGood to know thanks.

programs only).

Has anybody got some really good suggestions of what is a great computer setup to make my Paris Studio the best it can be in 2013+. I bet there are few members here that have already done a lot the research and hopefully would like to share their results Smile

I want to run:

Windows 7 Pro (seems to be the best for Paris)
Virtua Via Chassis (with 4+ cards)
Reaper
*any other suggestions*

Thanks for any help!!

risians,

I've just managed to sync my PARIS PC ( Win XP ) up to my Cubase PC ( Win 8 ) using rtpMIDI.

http://www.tobias-erichsen.de/software/rtpmidi.html

rtpMIDI uses the network port of the computer to connect via MIDI.

Install driver on each machine. Also works on MAC yet I can't test that since I don't have one.

Each computer needs to be connected through TCP/IP.
PARIS machine I have as 192.168.2.1
Cubase machine is 192.168.2.2

I have 2 network ports on the Cubase machine, so it's other port is 192.168.1.119 and connects it to the rest of my network. PARIS is only connected to the Cubase machine which isn't sharing resources. So the interconnecting cable only has to transport the MTC.

I am connected over a 1Gb network and rtpMIDI is claiming 0ms Latency.

Folks don't know if anyone may help , but I am trying to find my wife's grandmother she is in or was a nursing home /care home around the Paris area I know it is a long shot but it is quiet important for us to track her down.
she had a stroke 10/11 months ago and returned to Paris for care she was living in Nairobi Kenya , but she was born in France I believe around Paris
her name is Adrienne Agace Katerine (granddaughters name Mary and Elena) probably around 74 years old now I would be so grateful even to get a list of care homes around but if anyone works in a home where she is resident or was resident then wow my dreams will be fulfilled

kindest regards

Since we got such a great present under the tree this year - PACE-free PARIS 3.01 - I thought I'd start a thread so we can collect reports about what's working better, what's not working etc. so we can add it to the Wiki. I'm going to call them "bugs" although that's a pretty imprecise term.

I'll start by adding in a couple we know about already:

OLD BUG FIXED: Now Line now updates properly in Editor Window; clicking in Track 18 in the Editor no longer freezes the Now Line.

NEW ISSUE:

"Normalize" and "Super Normalize" (in fact, perhaps all destructive DSP) no longer work in the Editor Window pulldown menu. The workaround for some (but not all) functions is to use the "destructive edit" window [good question to ask - is this on *all types of audio files" or just, say, 24-bit PAF?]

NEW ISSUE: PARIS 3.01 crashes on boot with
"Unhandled Exception: c0000005
At Address: 005f7df3"
This seems likely to be related to a funky VST plugin, so the solution is: boot 3.0; go into Configuration and set your VST plugins folder to a new empty folder; quit 3.0 and boot 3.01. Experiment with adding plugins back in to see which one caused the issue.

Stick your new discoveries in the thread below and I'll get them up in the Wiki!

[have just created 3.01's first Wiki error page - woohoo!]

Dear Fellow PARIS Enthusiasts,

HELP...PLEASE!

I apologize in advance for the length of this introductory email....

Years ago I went to great lengths in determining the best DAW to invest in! I purchased a Bundle 3. I successfully began my rewarding venture into Paris. Later I upgraded (questionable) my computer system, purchased v3.0, then purchased a second EDS card and C16. Installed the components and configured it..everything seemed good. I never really got a chance to use the later configuration....then Life happened! Years later my system was still in suspended animation when I discovered this forum and found solace in knowing Paris will go on and help might be available someday if needed.

I now have a desire and a need to revive my system. (Record drive was last defragged over 4500 days ago!) I purchased a new CMOS battery and cranked it up. Pulled up an old session of 16 tracks of 44.1 24 audio and it played! My need was to import a session of 24 tracks of audio at 48 24 and mix it down.

r system:

Windows 98SE
Soyo SY-6BA+100 MB
Pentium III 850 Processor
512MB RAM
WD PCI SCSI interface
WD Cavier EIDE Ultra DMA/33 HD (system)
Seagate Barracuda ST39173LW Ultra/Ultra2 LVD SCSI HD (record)

Don't know much about SCSI and was hoping someone could elaborate on setup/configuration/troubleshooting related to Paris. Is SCSI required? I haven't seen much on this in the threads. I keep thinking I should be getting enough sustained transfer rate but don't know what the problem is because I don't know what to look for. I did find that my SCSI cable has a passive, not active termination and believe that may make a difference? Also discovered that the system drive sits on an integrated controller which is a RAID controller and lists the system drive as SCSI also. I get practically the same performance when playing the same session back from either drive...no real improvement with the Barracuda. Would I benefit if I went to a different system drive and defeated the on board controller? Maybe causing conflicts? The IRQ's for both interfaces are shared no matter what I do. I noticed when playing (attempting playback) of the higher resolution f

iles from SCSI drive the computer keeps hitting both drives but when playing back the session of 16 tracks at a lower resolution it does not.

I would like to salvage this system if possible...What info from me would be helpful?
Do you think it's even capable of doing what I need to do?
Should I abandon this motherboard?
What kind of system/specs/capability do I need to do 24 tracks of 24 48?
Is my drive capable?
What is the possible limiting factor or bottleneck in this system I have?
I have some other, older computer hardware I could use to perhaps run XP and more memory with different motherboard. What do I need or can I do inexpensively? If I go to a current system I couldn't afford to go outboard PCI adapters, etc., and I have utilities that wouldn't run under windows 8.
If going to XP, what version and what driver(s) do I need? Mike's or Chris's?
Can this run on Wi

board sync....
A new ASIO driver would be great and useful (no pressure Mike)!

I appreciate the help in advance that anyone can provide to get me up and running. I'm hoping just a few tweaks can solve the issue or that I can make a cost conscience move to a system utilizing things that I have on hand or only need drivers or a different SCSI drive or controller.

I love the Paris as you all do...thank you so much for your time, help, this forum, and all that you have done to keep it alive!!

Happy New Year to all of you and have a great day!

the gold plated contacts on each card as well.

Kim.
IT'S WORKING IN NEWER SYSTEM RUNNING WINDOWS 8.1! THANK YOU EVERYONE!!!!

Kerry,

Thanks for the input. Installed an extra case fan and a small internal fan pulling in from the front and across the cards...the current power supply is rated at 520...I'll see how it goes.

The new configuration seems to be importing stereo waves fine...maybe? I do think it's a header issue with these files or something as these files should not be stereo but Paris thinks they are but doesn't split them ('cause they're not!) If I have further issues I'll try your suggestion.

Here's some things...

I ended up getting Mike's drivers but when I installed the system I immediately swapped the .exe with v3.01. Was that necessary in 64 bit any more and does 3.01 have issues 3.o doesn't? Should I have been able to keep the v3.0 and would it have run? Should I revert back? I wouldn't know the difference but had a couple quirks;

When I shut down Paris it doesn't always shutdown in the background and I have to manually do it through task manager in order to restart it.

It takes longer now to initialize the system than it did in my old 98 system.

After I fired it up the first time I loaded an old 16 channel lower resolution session and it played perfectly. I changed no configuration sett
