Try one of the first two, depending on your needs there are those who've found them unobjectionable. If you talk nice to Mike (and promise not to complain about the rough parts) he might let you have a peek at his snappier alphas - I've used them and they were actually quite stable once I learned "what not to do".cool, good info. how

-PhilThanks so much for all the positive comments here. PARIS won't benefit from more ram, but other applications that we run along side PARIS (VSTi hosts, etc.) will.
I really, really intended this to be long done by now. I'm still working on it. I've been moving functionality from the PSCL into the scherzo where the code relates to enabling and disabling interrupts. This is something that has bothered me about the driver for a long time. When I started, I was so new to things that I was afraid of changing these sections. They don't look so scary now, so I'm taking them on. The hope is that PARIS will run much faster when the interrupt masking and unmasking is done under the IRQ lock, rather than putting in delays. This could alleviate some of the clock funkiness when changing from internal to external and back again, too. Even if it turns out it fixes nothing, it is the right way to do it, so it's going to change.
I've now done dozens and dozens of hours of testing with the double buffering, and I've had zero problems. 
I'm sorry this has taken so much longer than I thought it would. But, I am going to finish this, and it is going really, really well. Thanks so much for your patience. I wish I was a millionaire, and I could just make this my full time gig. I'd buy the PARIS source, too. Ah, dreaming ....

Mike I guess if we are still using Paris we are really in no rush or we would have gone elsewhere. The system still out shines all the others in actual tone and fullness. So take your time you'll get there. You've already gone above and beyond and it is well appreciated. I'm actually pretty embarrassed that this hasn't been finished as soon as I would have liked. But, I'm still on it. I finished moving the IRQ masking and unmasking to the Scherzo last night.

do they still want 200 bucks from you for the licence?huh? no, i've never paid any money at all, to anybody, for any response code i've ever gotten. I DID pay around $300.00, if I remember the original price correctly, for the initial software though, when I first got it- which was at least several years ago, when it was first released---Heh, I got bad news for you, Harry - that wasn't exactly "several" years ago, we're just celebrating its tenth birthday this week.  Sure doesn't feel like it....I purchased mike's drivers some time ago, and bought a Gigabyte GA-M720-US3 mobo (NVIDIA chipset)at the same time. So far, so good! Using an OEM NVIDIA nvs 285 16X pci-e card, and a 1x pci-e Galaxy 7300GT card (with a small riser that clears the chipset heatsink). Four monitor outputs.. cool!

If you can still get this mobo, and need to run 4 EDS's GET IT!
I shoved a quad core Athlon 2 @ 3000mhz in it, and all is sweet.
Looking forward to retiring my K8NS-ultra shortly!

Dayam, I tried inserting those pix inline in your message, those suckers are big! But it's for a good cause Hi I am having a difficult time getting paris to work on my xp box. One problem after another. With mikes help finally got it up ok but after i used the response code from ID things qwent bad. Have reloaded the drivers and paris and it encounters a problem on closing. It Is in an xp box with AMD 5600X2 duall core and envidia GeForce video driver. MSI Mobo. I am using a magma and 3 cards. 2 mecs and a 442. 3.0 pro. I have done a fresh install of windows on a new drive. Help!!!i guess i was mistaken. obviously i havent suffered enough. works for everyone but me. any one wanna buy a studio?Hate to sound snarky- don't sweat this too much. Upgrade to Windows 7. No need to beat your head into the table trying to make XP work. I fought with XP for years. My 7 build is rock solid. Look to the future and then never look back.

Yours is the first rig I've seen with 4 monitors - I hope the graphic cards get along with each other nicely. what's the problem?Hi Colin.
I can say at this stage that the two graphics cards do play nicely together. (The fact that this mobo uses the a Nvidia chipset helps, I guess). I did have to use a riser adaptor for the 1x 7300GT card, however. I purchased it from an online store here in Australia called "Darkwire". The web site is under reconstruction right now, and I can't see it anywhere on the site. It is basically just a 1x riser, approx 2/3" high. This is necessary so that the 7300 can clear the mobo chipset heatsink. I had to find a spacer of equivalent length in order to bolt the card firmly into the case.
Something like this, however, should do the trick: (with the added bonus that you could probably mount the card in any of the hardware slots available in your case):a

Also, if the 1x card is difficult to come by, I'm pretty sure that I had, at one stage, a 16x Nvidia card working nicely with the same adaptor. (with a slot cut at one end..) Apparently only the first 1/3rd of the pins on a pci-e card are needed, albeit with a SLIGHT performance hit. (I don't do gaming on my DAW).

Anyways, I see no further problems arising, however I am yet to permanently move my other three EDS's into the new box, and do some testing. I am quite confident, however, and will keep you posted.

I am still running a single core XP system. A Pentium 4 2.80gz machine. Will I still benefit from purchasing your multi-core updated XP drivers...and will the driver work in my system?

DonYep, they'll work great. Theoretically they run a tad slower on single cores than the 2004 drivers (which were optimized for single core) but it will probably be completely imperceptible. That'd be a trivial impact considering the number of bugfixes they contain.Excellent...thanks!!

This is just weird; it sounds like the "Crash On Exit" bug but I was under the impression it had been killed a long time ago (like - 2004).
I think what's making it hard to help are 1) we don't really have a lot of info to go on and 2) Mike Audet couldn't sort it out??? I dunno, nobody knows the PARIS drivers better than Mike, if he's stumped the problem must be very stubborn and deep.
About the only thing I could suggest is a complete OS reinstall and then a careful reinstallation of PARIS making certain to tick off every step as I went. This has fixed even the most stubborn problems for me every time.
Dunno if you've seen this page, but although it's more relevant to the old drivers it might spark some thoughts too.kerry
i went through it with mike for a few hours on the phone. i did a fresh install of the os on a brand new harddrive and carefully installed everything as per mikes instructions. he has sent me several sets of drivers to try to sort it out. i am not sure what is what at this point and i think mike is finished helping.mike sent me a dbug view app and i installed it and it ran for a day on 1 set of drivers but only if i ran the dbug view with it.Yesterday i got here and ID had sent me the responce code and i used it and then paris started being a POS. I think i somehow pissed mike off although i cant see how as he suddenly told me he had reached the limit of his support even though on the previous day he was offering further assistance to sort the drivers out?? I dunno. Mike has been really helpful but at this point i am not sure which drivers are which but i found a set which work without dbug view although they have the EXIT problem and sometimes lock the machine up. Since the new trouble began i have done a clean install of paris and the related files twice.????????? Someone suggested i get windows 7? Why cant xp get sorted out is my question.Anyone have a set of drivers that work with a setup like mine? Perhaps you could email them in that case .Lemme know. Been on this a while now. If not resolved soon im gonna have to go back to the G3 setup and be the only guy this dont work for.Yee hawI needed a mental challenge to help deal with some personal issues and have been needing to save some room so decided to combine one of my MEC's and it's computer. Here's where I'm at. My CPU came today (AMD Phenom II x2 @ 3.2) and I should have RAM soon and then can finish up. No permanent mods to MEC it can be reconfigured to completely stock in 20 or so minutes. PS DVD and HD mounted to inner roof. Gigabyte MB to floor n a modified chassis from another computer. This configuration will give me 2 PCI slots for EDS cards and leave room for 2 MEC modules. Hope it all works. Because of the length of our beloved EDS cards I had to extend and box in part of the back of the MEC. More pics after I finish later next week. The keyboard project I built has ADAT out and with an ADAT MEC module it should be sweet. Here's the thread on that build. Let me know if the more experienced among you foresee any possible pitfalls.

 Hi all, I'm beginning to think about reviving my old Paris system. I burned out and haven't recorded in about 5-7 years, but am wanting to get back into it. When I tried to fire up my old Paris PC it was dead - I'm guessing a dead power-supply. It was a 3card WinME system.
I'm thinking I could just put a new powersupply in all should be good, but I was also wanting to investigate success stories in moving up to XP or even Win7 using MIke Audet's new drivers I'm reading about.
Is there a link to successful builds, including least problem chipsets, mobos, video cards, etc? I don't need tons of horsepower or anything as Paris had more than enough power and tracks for me even running on WinME on a very old machine - so ease and stability of build - just on a more modern PC is really all I'm looking to consider if I try this. I'm not sure, but I'm guessing a more modern PC might let me track at higher bitrates but I haven't really researched any of it very far at this point.
Can anyone kindly point me to links or info I need to read or provide tips? thanks in advance - much appreciated.Here's the PO for an XP system we built about a year ago. Works quite well. Occasionally I get an unhandled exception error, but that seems to relate mostly to too many instances of the Nebula plugin.

One thing - the Sonata case is nice, but needs to be modified to fit the EDS cards in. I didn't do this, and instead got an ugly old cheapy case, but others have.

lways in for some good DIY projects. Here's my latest, trying to tame the severe heat coming from my ISA428 preamp after adding the D/A card.
Added a bigger heatsink with fan, new thermal compound and lifted the top cover but its back on the bench today. No turning back now, its a machined hole on the top cover for a 4" quiet fan.
Man, this was a bad design by Focusrite, bet ya that's one of the main reasons why all the newer models have a switching pwr supply instead of linear.
