, clearing out extraneous entries
in the ASIO portion of the system registry, and another e-mail
to Synthax just to make sure I'm not missing anything, I
FINALLY get it to work... what worked was to reinstall the
chipset drivers, THEN reinstall the RME drivers, then reboot.
Why the chipset drivers? I dunno, I just figured I'd try it.
I have major suspicions about this chipset by now, so why not
give that a shot?
So now we should be OK, right? It works, right? Nope, I install
CubaseSX v1, which you have to have residing on the PC before
you can install the v3 upgrade), install the update to v.1, and
that all works fine, USB key is recognized, etc... everything's
cool. Set a system restore point titled something like: "OMIGOD,
SX V1 IS WORKING!", and proceed to install CubaseSX v3...
