>The connection quality is far less with a TRS (longframe or standard
for that matter) jack than with an XLR. The XLR has a good solid
connection, whereas the 1/4" jacks can move (rotate) with vibration.
While this is not a problem with line level signals, it IS a problem
for the very low level mic signals where Phantom power in concerned.
ANY variance in the Phantom supply to a mic will be instantly audible.
I worked at a studio once that had a bantam mic bay... anytime I did
a session in there, I had to lay a blanket and phone books on the
cables to keep them from vibrating... I even spent lots of time
in-between cleaning the plugs (brass) to no avail.
YMMV... but I doubt it...
